I've Been Obsessed

I didn't start in cannabis. I started in the trenches of organic search — studying how Google decided which businesses earned visibility and which ones disappeared into page two. That obsession led to 15+ years of work across local SEO, customer acquisition systems, and conversion infrastructure.

Early in my career, I noticed something most marketers missed: visibility controls everything. It controls foot traffic, phone calls, repeat purchases, and ultimately whether a local business survives or closes. Businesses that owned their local search presence consistently outperformed those who relied on walk-ins or paid traffic.

I built systems. I tested what moved rankings. I studied how review velocity, citation consistency, and proximity signals interacted to determine who showed up in Google Maps — and who didn't. That knowledge became the foundation of what DDE delivers today.

When I transitioned into cannabis, everything I'd built became sharper. The industry had a unique problem: dispensaries are highly local businesses in a highly competitive, regulated market — yet most were being served by generic agencies with no cannabis experience and no understanding of how Google treats local intent searches.

From Uber Weeds Canada
to DDE.

In 2019, I launched Uber Weeds Canada — a cannabis delivery brand built to prove a theory: that a brand with zero paid advertising budget could achieve national visibility through search infrastructure alone.

I applied every local SEO system I'd built over the previous decade. Google Maps optimization. Localized landing pages. Review velocity. Citation building. Proximity signals. The brand ranked across multiple Canadian cities and generated consistent inbound traffic without a dollar spent on ads.

The brand became visible enough that Uber Technologies reached out regarding the use of the "Uber" name. That was the moment I knew the systems worked at scale.

After Uber Weeds Canada closed, I moved into private consulting — working behind the scenes with dispensaries and cannabis operators across Canada. Many of those clients prefer to stay private to protect their competitive advantage. I respect that completely.

Along the way, I've consulted with recognized cannabis brands including Weed Advisor and was involved during the launch era of Marley Natural Cannabis Retail — one of the first Bob Marley cannabis retail concepts to expand across Canada. Over the years I've also worked with several larger dispensary operators who prefer to keep the relationship private to protect the competitive advantage they gained through local SEO and market dominance systems.
